Just wondering if there is any possibility (however remote) for a complete and utter amateur to have a go at fixing an Epson DX8400 printer.

I don't know what's wrong with it - it's been fairly well cared for but one day it just wouldn't power on. I've double checked for blown fuses and for the power cable itself but the problem is with neither of those so must be within the printer itself.

Is there anything obvious that I could check for?

It's no longer under warranty and I think it would probably cost more to get it serviced than to replace it.
