It would seem that not only is the iPhone up-ending the mobile and gaming industries, but it seems to be making inroads into fine art as well. What had seemed like a novel concept for contemporary magazine cover art has turned into a global phenomenon. iPhone users across the world are producing fantastic works of art with little more than their index finger, a paint app, and a 3.5quot screen. Granular synthesis on iPhone
CDM points out this vid from mfischer exploring sounds created from varying pieces of a sample -the strange agency made this great little granular synthesis iphone application called curtis. itacircs named for composer, author, granular synth advocate curtis roads. this is just a quick little thing i recorded using a captured bit of sound from a thumb piano. pretty fun little application to play with.Ive always found the concept of granular synthesis compelling in theory but a bit unwieldy in practice. Being able to manipulate the sample parameters via touch would likely improve results - just wish Curtis had a way to transfer samples over to desktop audio software. The Android vs iPhone fight is officially on. The EVO 4G fired the first shot last Friday when it launched nationwide on Sprint. The Android nation rallied behind the 4G super phone, which finally gave the Android nation a reason to be proud of their mobile platform of choice. They loudly pointed out all the EVO 4G's iPhone-killing specs: huge 4.3-inch screen, 4G hotspot mode, dual cameras, and cheap mobile plans. Wii remote for MAME on iPhone

Mobile gaming mastermind ZodTTD has updated his mame4iPhone app to use BTStack, allowing the use of a Wii remote as a controller. I could see using this with the iPhone app video out hack as a low-cost casual gaming console. It would be pretty cool to go from playing a mobile game directly to playing the same game on a large screen with a controller. It's no Xbox, but give it a few years.

Expected to debut during the Adobe MAX developer conference, Flash Player 10 is geared to bring its widely popular media distribution format to a large selection of smartphone systems.
